Les Homogenitus sont des nuages artificiels anthropogéniques générés par les activités humaines – classifiés dans l’Atlas International des Nuages depuis 2017 par l’OMM. Ce projet de recherche et créations propose de réunir des artistes, scientifiques et designers pour écrire un Ouvroir de Climats Potentiels (OuCliPo) autour des problématiques éthiques des sciences de la géo-ingénierie solaire. Ces fictions interrogent les codes scientifiques et soulèvent des questions éthiques : Si l’atmsophère s’opacifie, comment se projeter vers de nouveaux horizons?

In 2017 the World Meteorological Organisation added Homogenitus to their International Cloud Atlas – artificial clouds generated by human activities. This multidisciplinary project (art, science and design) brings together social and ecological issues: using meteorological data, modeling the weather and engaging economic, political and media responsibilities about the science of geo-engineering. Homogenitus is a prospective project that proposes to rethink the way we innovate in order to anticipate the consequences upstream of the technological process through media mechanisms, social and scientific engagement.

OuCLiPo est un projet spéculatif qui propose de repenser la façon dont nous innovons afin d’anticiper les conséquences en amont du processus technologique. L’art et le design servent à dessiner cette fiction et à projeter le public dans une expérience écologique ironique. Le design spéculatif utilise la fiction pour anticiper les innovations et questionner les dystopies technologiques séduisantes. Le solutionnisme technologique est confrontée à la réalité prométhéenne, engageant nos valeurs, les communautés, les controverses et l’expertise scientifique.

Nubus est une startup de geo-ingénierie solaire spécialisée en production de nuages bleus pour lutter contre l’effet de serre. Elle propose une solution face au réchauffement climatique à travers la géo-ingénierie solaire ; la fabrication de nuages permet de réduire la température du globe. La diffusion de nuages stratosphériques permet – en théorie – de diminuer l’albedo et ainsi de dévier une partie du rayonnement solaire vers l’espace…

Nubus is a solar geo-engineering startup specialized in cloud production to fight against the greenhouse effect. Created by pataphysicians, Nubus tries to solve the problem of global warming by manufacturing clouds to reduce the earth temperature locally and then globally. The generation of clouds makes it possible to decrease the albedo and thus to reflect part of the solar radiation towards space rather than on Earth. The Nubus company launches a marketing campaign, supported by partners, to create and control clouds in the landscape using local meteorological data. This advertising campaign, flyer and video will be distributed.

FAKE CLOUD

FakeCloud est un collectif d’ARTivistes citoyens de défense du ciel contre les expérimentations climatiques et la production de nuages artificiels ou anthropogéniques. Il est engagé auprès de la communauté scientifique et travaille en partenariat avec les experts en climatologie sur les effets secondaires de la géo-ingénierie solaire. Il alerte sur les dangers de ces innovations et expérimentations météorologiques. FakeCloud lance une campagne d’affichage pour sensibiliser le public à ces enjeux environnementaux. Le ton de la série permet d’aborder l’éco-anxiété ambiante avec ironie.

Homogenitus est une installation interactive de production de nuages à la demande à partir d’une application mobile. Les spectateurs peuvent modéliser leur propre nuage, choisir sa forme et sa composition. Ils générent ainsi un micro-climat produit par la machine à nuage et deviennent apprentis géo-ingénieurs solaires. Homogenitus souligne les contradictions et les paradoxes au sein de nos idéologies technologiques : Comment le green washing, les bonnes intentions et les innovations peuvent aboutir à un potentiel désastre écologique?

To debate these issues and to confront both sides, a performance will be organized, mixing demonstration, protest and happening to open the public debate. For this event, a user-generated content application will be developed for a public performance to generate artificial clouds and modify the weather in real time : The weather game. The live show will demonstrate the paradox of weather control : clouds will be generated from IA data and sensors (humidity, pressure and temperature) participants will be able to generate clouds in real time directly from their phones, this data will be sent to the cloud making machine. Artificial clouds will be created based on the chemical composition of the particles chosen by the audience (silver iodide, clay or sand particles, salt crystals, pollen, soot, etc.)

Projet de recherche OuCliPo sur les liens entre Art Fiction & Climat :

Les années sans soleil de 536 et 1816 ont donné lieu aux pires famines et épidémies de l’histoire, mais également aux mythes fondateurs de la SF. Depuis le néolithique, la domestication de son environnement distingue homo-sapiens grâce à ses facultés d’imagination et de conceptualisation. Nos interactions Homme(s)-Nature-Machine sont au coeur des mécanismes à l’œuvre dans la perception phénoménologique du monde. Les enjeux idéologiques de lumière et d’obscurité vis-à-vis de la science sont influencés par les médias et les réseaux. Les technologies de géo-ingénierie solaire engagent notre esprit critique et sèment le doute sur la manipulation du climat. Quand l’atmosphère devient opaque, comment se projeter vers de nouveaux horizons ?
